Overview
Southern Cross University has been open since 1994 and now has well over 15,000 students enrolled both on campus and externally. SCU provides a balance between academic pursuits and on campus experience with highly qualified teaching staff in the class room and pleasant study and living spaces at each of its locations so that students are able to work towards their study goals in a relaxed and supportive environment.
Research and academic programmes are characterised by excellence and relevance to the real world so that graduates are well equipped for life in the global marketplace upon completion of their studies.
Location
SCU’s campuses are located on the mid North and North coast of New South Wales, set in beautiful rainforest and coastal areas with a backdrop of mountains and World Heritage parks near the border with Queensland and not far from the famous Gold Coast.
Campuses
Lismore campus is set on 75 hectares of natural bushland in the Northern Rivers area of New South Wales, three hours drive form Brisbane. Facilities include nursing and tactile therapies laboratories, pool and student services complex, Moot Court and law library, natural therapies clinic and medicinal herbarium, visual arts and music studios, and recording facilities.
Facilities at Coffs Harbour campus include nursing laboratories and simulated clinical wards, early childhood teacher training facilities, sporting and fitness facilities, and student accommodation.
Lakeside and Riverside campuses in Tweed Heads offer between them most of the undergraduate and postgraduate courses run by SCU and Beachside campus on the Gold Coast is due to open in 2010.
The Hotel School Sydney in the heart of the Sydney CBD is the site at which SCU runs its hotel operations and tourism management courses in association with InterContinental Hotel Sydney and a number of leading tourism associations

Lismore campus offers General English (ELICOS), Specialist English, Conversation Classes, and Study Tour Programs.
Coffs Harbour campus offers Academic English, Business English, General English, and Holiday English Programs.
Tweed Gold Coast offers a range of English language course options by arrangement with Queensland International Business Academy (QIBA) at their Coolangatta centre.
Entry Requirements
Undergraduate admission generally requires successful completion of the recognised equivalent of Australian Year 12 High School and an IELTS of 6.0 overall with no band less than 5.5.
Postgraduate admission generally requires successful completion of the equivalent of an Australian Bachelor degree and n IELTS of 6.0 with no band less than 5.5 for postgrad coursework and an IELTS of 6.5 with no band less than 6.0 for postgrad research. Some postgrad courses also require relevant work experience and some requirements are higher.

Enrolment dates
The academic year is divided into three sessions. An AA Education Network counsellor can advise you of the best times to apply, but it is advisable for students to apply well in advance of the session in which they wish to commence study, to allow time for processing of applications.
