Australian Capital Territory (ACT)
The Australian Capital Territory is home to Australia’s capital and central political city, Canberra, and where you can find Parliament House, the Australian War Memorial and other significant cultural institutions. A separate territory Located within New South Wales, the ACT also houses impressive landscapes such as Namadgi National Park, which borders Kosciuszko National Park and makes up 46% of the territory’s land area.
Canberra
One of the world’s few planned cities, Canberra is set amongst charming gardens and rivers and is Australia’s only inland capital city. Canberra has some of Australia’s key national attractions such as Parliament House built upon Capital Hill and possessing stunning views of the city, the Australian War Memorial with its famous Roll of Honour and military memorabilia, and the National Museum of Australia situated on beautiful Lake Burley Griffin.
Namadgi National Park
Namadgi is an Aboriginal name used to refer to the mountains south west of Canberra. It is believed that Aboriginals have been present in this area for more than 20,000 years. The national park makes up 46% of the ACT’s land area, with habitat ranging from grassy plains, rocky granite outcrops, snow gum forests and alpine meadows. Visitors can enjoy camping, hiking, cycling, horse riding, rock climbing and snow activities in winter.
