Overview

The Australian Catholic University’s ethos is that of engaging with the ethical, social and spiritual dimensions of all its fields of endeavour, with a focus on the care, encouragement and support of all of its students.

The University is known for its pursuit of excellence in teaching, research and service to the community, and it aims to encourage these qualities in its staff and students.

The ACU fits into a long tradition of Catholic intellectual life and is open to students from all cultures, nationalities and beliefs, providing an inclusive and tolerant teaching and learning environment that promotes positive professional outcomes for its graduates.

Location

The Australian Catholic University has 6 campuses – two in Sydney (the capital of New South Wales) and one each in Melbourne (the capital of Victoria), Brisbane (the capital of Queensland), Canberra (the Australian national capital) and Ballarat (an important regional centre in Victoria).

Because of their locations, each campus has access to the best that major urban centres have to offer by way of access to resources and facilities – for education, recreation, and social and cultural activities.

Campuses

Mackillop (North Sydney campus) is just over the Harbour Bridge from the Sydney CBD, set on a small, accessible site in the business district of North Sydney. The facilities centre on a courtyard and recreational area where the culturally diverse student body relaxes between lectures.

Mount St Mary (Strathfield) campus is a short train trip from the Sydney CBD and not far from Strathfield station. Facilities are set within historic buildings and landscaped grounds centring on a spacious lawn that provides a relaxed meeting place for students between classes.

McAuley at Banyo (Brisbane) campus is a quick trip form the Brisbane CBD and very close to Banyo station. Facilities are set within a former Catholic seminary and include excellent teaching and learning resources, swimming pool and sports grounds.

St Patrick’s (Melbourne) campus is on the edge of the Melbourne CBD, close to parks and gardens, cafes, galleries and shops. Purpose-built facilities are set in a renovated, multi-storey building just a short walk from the heart of the city.

Signadou (Canberra) campus is a smaller ACU facility just a short trip from Canberra’s centre and its facilities include teaching and learning spaces, swimming pool and a chapel.

Aquinas (Ballarat) campus is close to the city centre and set within pleasant old buildings and gardens, providing a relaxed and peaceful environment to study and socialise.
