Location
Ballarat University is located about and an hour a half by road from the Melbourne CBD and has campuses in the centre of the city, with the main campus 10 km form the city’s centre.
Ballarat is an historic regional centre of Victoria, with a temperate climate of four distinct seasons in the year. The city affords a relatively low cost of living compared to larger Australian cities and there is much of interest socially and culturally.
Campuses
Mt Helen is the main campus, located on 110 hectares of bushland 10 km from the city. Facilities include student accommodation, modern teaching and learning facilities, sporting facilities and the Technology Park, among others.
Most of the university’s programmes are offered at this campus.
Camp Street campus is close to Ballarat’s centre and hosts the Arts Academy in a creative and stimulating student “village” within its combination of new and historic buildings. The campus specialises in the visual and performing arts.
SMB campus is also close to the city’s centre and houses UB”s TAFE and Vocational Education and Training facilities, offering certificate, diploma and advanced diploma courses. This campus is the site of the original University of Ballarat.

UB offers students TAFE courses in: Applied Sciences, Applied Sciences and Manufacturing Services.

English Courses
The University offers English for Academic Purposes at levels apporiate to students ability.
Entry Requirements
TAFE entry requires students have an IELTS of 5.5 overall with no band less than 5.0, and successful completion of the equivalent of Year 12 High School.
Undergraduate entry generally requires an IELTs of 6.0 overall with no band less than 5.5, and the successful completion of the equivalent of Year 12 High School.
Post graduate entry generally requires an IELTS of 6.0 with no band less than 5.5, and the successul completion of the equivalent of a Bachelor degree.

Enrolment dates
For 2010
- Semester One: commences first week in March – fishes last week in June
- Semester Two: commences last week of July – finishes mid November
Students are advised to apply well in advance of the semester in which they wish to commence studies. An AA Education Network counsellor will advise you of the important dates for applications.
Student activities
The Student Association operates clubs hosting sporting, artistic and social activities while the University runs programmes to engage international students socially and academically.
Students can also access a range of sporting and fitness facilities on campus and also frequently organise their own informal and more spontaneous social activities.
