Overview

Since the 1920’s. UNE has grown into an internationally recognised university with a strong regional focus, both in Australia and overseas. The University is experienced in face-to-face teaching and learning, distance education through external studies, and online learning via the internet.

UNE engages in collaborative projects with business, government and community at the local, national, and international levels and is recognised for its contributions to regional development, both in Australia and overseas.


Location

The UNE is locate in Armidale, a regional centre in northern New South Wales about halfway between Sydney, the state’s capital, and Brisbane, the capital of Queensland. Armidale is close to sone of the state’s most beautiful national parks and only a two hour drive from Coffs Harbour and the beaches of the north coast of New South Wales.


Campus

Armidale campus is located on the outskirts of a Armidale, a short bus ride away. Facilities include student accommodation, medical centre, sporting facilities, shopping and dining, banking and postal services, library and bookshop, and student welfare services.

English Courses

The University’s English Language Centre is based at the Armidale campus and offers English for Academic Purposes, General English, and an Introductory Academic Programme.


Entry Requirements

English language requirements for undergraduate and postgraduate coursework is an IELTS of 6.0 overall with no band les that 5.5, and for Law and Nursing awards and postgraduate research an IELTS of 6.5 overall with no band less than 6.0.

Academic admission for undergraduate study requires the successful completion of the recognised equivalent of Australian Year 12 High School, while postgraduate admission generally requires the successful completion of the recognised equivalent of an Australian Bachelor degree.

Enrolment dates

The UNE operates on two semesters and three trimesters. Semester one begins in February and Semester two begins in July. Students are advised to apply well in advance of their intended commencement to leave enough time for processing applications.


Student activities

There are sporting, social and other activities on campus and students can join one of the social or sporting clubs in town. Otherwise, students arrange informal, spontaneous activities among themselves and access the clubs, cafes and live music venues in town, as well as daytrips to one of the nearby national parks.
