Overview

The University of New South Wales is one of Australia’s largest providers of education for international students and has a well established international focus in its education and research programmes.

UNSW engages in many collaborative projects with universities world wide, as ell as with business and government, offering students an internationally recognised and valued qualification and the chance to engage in research that makes a difference.


Location

UNSW is located in Sydney’s eastern suburbs, a short bus ride from the city’s CBD and close to famous city beaches of Sydney like Bondi, Bronte and Coogee. The university has easy access to all the social, cultural, recreational and business amenities that Sydney offers to visitors and residents.


Campuses

The University’s main campus is in Kensington in Sydney’s Eastern Suburbs. Other campuses include the College of Fine Arts in Paddington, Randwick campus adjacent Kensington campus, the Australian Graduate School of Management in the CBD, Cliffbrook campus at Coogee (a beachside suburb), David Phillips Field in Daceyville, Little Bay campus at Little Bay, Manly Vale campus in Manly vale, and the Australian Defence Force Academy in Canberra, the nation’s capital.


Courses

UNSW offers around 450 undergrad and post grad coursework and research degrees through the faculties of  Arts and Social Sciences, Australian Defence Force Academy, Australian School of Business, Built Environment, the College of Fine Arts, Engineering, Law, Medicine, and Science.


English Courses

The UNSW Institute for Languages offers University English Entry, IELTS Preparation, English for Law, English for Health Professionals, English for Business, English for Academic Purposes.


Entry Requirements

Undergraduate admission generally requires the successful completion of the recognised equivalent of Australian Year 12 High School and an IELTS of  at least 6.5 overall with no band less than 6.0.

Postgraduate admission generally requires the successful completion of the recognised equivalent of an Australian Bachelor degree. There may be other requirements depending on the course chosen. Language requirements are the same as for undergrad admission.

Enrolment dates

  • For Semester 1; apply by 30 November the previous year.
  • For Semester 2: apply by 31 May the same year.


Student activities

There are various on campus clubs and societies providing students with a range of activities from sport and recreation, religious and spiritual, through to social and cultural. Students also organise their own informal and spontaneous social and recreational activities.
